Things are OK for me, Fernando, thanks for asking. Due to certain complications, we will be relocating to the USA this spring, and I will begin in the autumn at Georgetown.

'It’s just my boobs aren’t out. And I don’t have a cigarette in my hand, and I’m not making out with a guy.' She models for Versace and Stella McCartney, but is a practicing and devout JW. No big deal, but I never thought I'd be seeing 'Versace' and 'devout JW' in the same sentence.

Scientology takes a cue from the JWs' KH scam
by Las Malvinas son Argentinas inhttp://www.buzzfeed.com/alexklein/is-scientology-self-destructing.
not to excuse or make the jw kingdom hall scam any lesser, but these guys really know how to play the game!
sounds like the old jw bait and switch though - tell everyone they need a new facility, make them pay for it and then take the title back to brooklyn or clearwater.

Not to excuse or make the JW Kingdom Hall scam any lesser, but these guys really know how to play the game! Sounds like the old JW bait and switch though - tell everyone they need a new facility, make them pay for it and then take the title back to Brooklyn or Clearwater. But do JW's charge the congregation rent like Scientology does?
Scientology also outdoes the JWs in terms of opulence and style. Miscavige sounds like a real piece of work. I can also see the similarities with them building (and subsequently bragging about) all these facilities all over the world, and using them as proof of growth and divine blessing. At least the Witnesses have numbers that aren't entirely embarrassing. 40,000+ Scientologists worldwide? Small wonder the facilities are never opened; they would reveal the harsh truth of mostly empty services.
Exit question: Can anyone see the JWs dwindling to these extremities anytime soon? Lots of KHs with so few people?

Pioneering - the best job in the world!
by MMXIV inhow often did i hear those words at circuit or district assemblies - that pioneering was the best job in the world?
how often did i hear a fake job advert for pioneering where there was 100% job satisfaction working for the most powerful person in the universe and you'd get to travel the world and live forever.... i've done both jobs and would say that the job advert should more honestly read like this:.
secular job.

I lasted two days as a pioneer. I went in and asked to be dropped as one the next opportunity I had. They told me that they would need a valid reason, and that it would need to be 'approved'. I walked out and just let them deal with it. I ended up being publicly reproved for the crime of quitting pioneering (although it was announced as something to the effect of not respecting the elders' authority). I don't think I ever really spent a real hour out in service ever since then.

The 'faith accompanied by works' teaching. My grandmother is sitting in a hospital bed slowly deteriorating, yet in order to remain 'faithful to the end', she keeps up this time reporting charade by keeping Watchtowers out for the nurses and doctors who are treating her. When she was in better condition, she called her unbelieving relatives and always spoke briefly about her religion. One of my great aunts made a note of this to me, and I told her about the time reporting requirement and that she wouldn't be considered as an active Witness if she missed a month, and wouldn't be one at all if 6 months passed. Something is inherently wrong with a religion that shames their elderly and infirm into selling their magazines for them from their deathbeds.

OMG...I missed the whole SPARLOCK craze....
by Pyramid Scheme ini hadn't been on the board to visit much last year, so i have been going back and poking around through the older threads since i started to post here.
i was on jwfacts.com, and noticed paul had posted a brief article about the jw video and the evil sparlock the warrior wizard.
we have no children, and i never got those videos anyway (even when i was still an elder), so when i went back and read all of the old threads, i was crying laughing.

You didn't miss much. Sparlock went viral, but now it's so 2012. I prefer "Gangnam Style".

Rutherford and definitely FW Franz would have posted IQs in the higher levels. What was missing with those two were the ability to reason with them and a somewhat narcissistic viewpoint of their own qualifications and intelligence. I'm sure there are some pretty sharp arrows among the JWs today, ex and active... The active ones refuse to divulge themselves of any WT propaganda, which in my mind practically diminishes most of the intelligence they had in the first place. Being a sect that eschews higher education, there will certainly be consequences. However, the constant studying, reading, commenting, and composing talks from the podium would make the Witnesses a more literate, albeit woefully misguided bunch.

He had servants at Beth Sarim. Not sure I believe that one, especially with him recovering from surgery. Someone had to be checking up on him.
